Wendy participated in the Koreaboo’s Global Auditions in 2011 and even though she wasn’t the final winner, she was among the fifteen finalists that qualified from over 5,000 videos to continue to the final round in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
In 2012, Wendy was cast by South Korea Multinational Entertainment (SM Entertainment) when she accompanied a friend to the S.M. Global Audition in Canada and performed Kim Gun-mo’s “Moon of Seoul”.
After training for less than two years, she was introduced as a member of SM Rookies (S.M. Entertainment’s pre-debut group) on March 14, 2014.
