Paul McCartney took over the band’s Bass after Stuart Sutcliffe left the band to pursue painting in school; he tragically died a year later.
With the growing Mersey Beat(Sub-genre of Rock and Roll), the Beatles started building up a following throughout 1961.
The band was hired by a producer named Bert Kaempfert to tour as Tony Slendan’s backing band for some recordings for Polydor records.

From the few songs recorded by the band in September, producer George Martin chose” Love Me Do.” Their first single was released on October 5th of 1962. The song “Love Me Do” hit peaking at number 17 on the Record Retailer chart.
The band’s second” Please Please Me.” was released by Parlophone on the 11th of January 1963.
Please Please was a bigger hit than Love Me Do; the song please me reached number one on melody maker charts and the New Musical Express.
Their Single “I want to hold your hand.” was released by Capitol Records in the United States on 26th Dec 1963 became their First American number 1 hit. The Beatles made their American television debut on the Ed Sullivan show, a success.
